Poll Results - formatted FAQs vs text FAQs

Here are the final results for the poll that I put up (and nearly forgot about):

Should I try to write up formatted (HTML) FAQs on GameFAQs?

Yes, I prefer formatted FAQs compared to text FAQs.
10 (47%)

Yes, but do both text and formatted with all your guides.
3 (14%)

No, I only like text FAQs.
8 (38%)

That's good to see that more people favor HTML guides, since that is most likely what you'll be seeing from me from now on. I'll try to make a text version of many of the popular guides that I do, but HTML will always come first.

For those that don't know yet, since the time I made this poll, I've actually gotten a writing position at Neoseeker.com! I've basically finished a Batman: Arkham Origins guide for them and I'm working on Dead Rising 3 right now. I'll work on others for them in the future. I'll try to keep people informed on what I do for Neoseeker with some post about it as I work on them. I'll make up a post for the Dead Rising 3 guide in a few more days. It's still in the VERY early stages at the moment.

I have to admit, the Dead Rising 3 guide got in the way of the Arkham Origins guide and I couldn't finish up the Origins guide the way that I wanted to. I didn't get a chance to list out all the Enigma extortion files like I planned to - I'll try to get that done eventually. Dead Rising 3 takes priority though!

Formatted Guides vs Text Guides

I'm most likely going to try to write a formatted guide for my next project for GameFAQs. I'm very curious to see what people think about Formatted FAQs on GameFAQs. Here is an example of a formatted guide from a great FAQ author. I've been experimenting and I think I understand all the mark-ups for the proper formatting. It will all be new to me, but I think it will actually be easier. Since I can take pictures of games, I'll add pics to the formatted guides also.

I plan to write for Batman: Arkham Origins later this year and I want it to be my first formatted FAQ. I'm considering making up both a formatted version for GameFAQs and a text version for others sites. So that way, readers can have a choice. I think you'll like the formatted version once I'm through with it though!

I have a poll to the side about this. If you vote then be sure to comment and let me know what you think about formatted FAQs. I'd love to hear it!

Personally, I didn't like the look of the formatted FAQs from the start, but I'm starting to see the advantages that they have. They do have some disadvantages though - it just seems like you can have heavier formatting in a text FAQ. Those of you that read my work know that I go heavy on formatting at times. Haha. But I do see that formatted FAQs can be much cleaner and you can get to the point faster in them.

Dead Rising Guide Compilation

Several years back, I wrote a guide for the original Dead Rising and allowed Cheat Happens to host it with added html and pics. I've had a talk with them and plan to release many of the guides I wrote for them as text guides on all the gaming sites. Sure, they are very old, but I spent a BUNCH of time on these guides and would like for them to at least be listed on my GameFAQs account.

The first game up is Dead Rising. This text version of this guide contains EVERYTHING that I have done for Dead Rising except for the script guide already listed on their site. I went just as overboard with Dead Rising 2, so now I have a matching pair! Haha. It's a great feeling to finally have my original Dead Rising guide up on GameFAQs. I'll be adding Lost Planet and God Hand guides on there eventually.

For those wondering if I'll be doing anything for Dead Rising 3, no, I won't. I don't plan on getting an Xbox One or a Playstation 4, for that matter, anytime soon. If I ever do get the chance to write one... I might. Honestly, ever since Dead Rising 2: Case West released, I've literally had my feel of Dead Rising overall. I didn't even bother with Dead Rising: Off the Record from the feeling of being so burnt out by Case West, so really I don't know if Dead Rising 3 would really mean as much to me.

As for those wondering about my next projects, I plan to write for Flashback and I'm currently still adding more to my Injustice guide. I might do something for Batman: Arkham Origins later this year also. If I do something for Batman, it will be EXTENSIVE since I love the Arkham games so much.

Guide Updates

If you're not familiar with the usual FAQ author, we just love to inform readers of guide updates and when we release a new guide or whatever other stuff we do. Well, I do at least... I would use this blog to do so, but it would become quickly repetitive and would crowd up too much around other posts, so I've decided to use my Facebook page for my guide update notification spamming.

If you ever want to see what I'm adding to any existing guide, just check out my Facebook. I'll keep the posts limited to major updates and not just make posts because of grammar mistakes and other minor stuff. I'll still use my main blog for posting up notifications about brand new guides but updates will be on my Facebook account only.

Facebook!

Yeah, it's about time to start actually using my Facebook account. I signed up on Facebook about two years back and haven't done anything on it. Some people have looked up my account online and added me as a friend or posted some on my facebook, but I haven't even started using it until now.

I'll try to post on there just as much as here. Blogger will still be my main place to boast... errr... Umm, advertise myself. I mean... post up my thoughts. Yeah.

Resident Evil Revelations Guide (console version)

Yeah, yeah, I know, I just reused the same graphic from the original Revelations 3DS guide post since I'm lazy. It sort of matches what Capcom did with the overall console port of Revelations in a way. This guide is fully edited to match the console version of the game for the most part. I'm going through Infernal mode at the moment and really... I don't see a reason to do a full extra guide for it. Just about every item is rearranged (especially scans) but the enemies are either the same or slightly remixed per room. The difficulty only picks up at times from what I see. For the most part PSG1 + charge shot 1 = WIN in infernal mode from what I see. I'll delve more deeply into Raid mode once I finish Infernal mode information. It almost seems like all Infernal mode items are the same as 3DS Hell mode for the most part, besides the P90 location in the Solarium.

Oh, and also, I'm heavily updating my Injustice guide off and on still at the moment also. I'm going to try to complete that STAR Labs section eventually. So far, all the info is up for all the DLC characters that have been released so far (Lobo, Batgirl and Scorpion) and I'll add any info for any other character(s) that come afterwards. I'm REALLY enjoying writing for a fighting games. It's such a good break from the usual action game stuff. Not that RE is bad, but well... it's just good to mix it up a bit once in a while.

One more thing, I'm so sorry to be so absent from Youtube lately. I'm just busy with writing (guides and reviews) and just overall real life stuff. I'll get back to making videos eventually most likely. I'm on a 4 month hiatus from Youtube so far. I've been on a 6 month break before as well, so it's not like I've never taken a long break from my Youtube page before. I'm still doing fine. No trouble or anything. Haha.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Guide

A guide for a fighter? This is so not my style really, but I last got involved with a fighter a few years back and did some stuff for MvC3, so I'm not all that new to writing for the fighting game genre. Anyway, I saw that Injustice had need of a guide on GameFAQs and they were offering a $60 gift card for a guide on it, so I decided to run through one really quick.

Injustice Guide

Injustice was supposed to be a small little project and then I would return to Gears of Judgment - I'm working on Judgment also - BUT, I am now stuck on Injustice and want to keep on compiling info for it, since... it's so fun to write for a fighter once again! I'm pretty sick of action games at this point, so this is nice.

Resident what? I probably won't do anything Resident Evil RElated until Revelations releases. I'm pretty tired of RE6 at the moment. It's been over 2 months since I last played it.

Resident Evil 6 and DmC Devil May Cry Guides

Hiya! I'm finally back and just wanted to mention the guides that I've been working on while I've been gone from my blog. I did some major things for RE6 and I'm still not totally finished yet. I'll pick back up on everything eventually, but I'm just tired of RE6 for now. I plan to get the rest of the my Mercenaries guide done and possibly get to an RE6 multiplayer mode guide later this year. I mainly worked on Campaign overall. The campaign guide and all the guides that I've done so far make up the most thorough and complete gathering of information you'll find online for RE6. I went into more depth than the official guide this time.

As for RE6 videos on my page, I'll try to get some up eventually. My main duo partner decided to block and delete me on all systems and youtube for some strange reason, so I'll be playing with another friend for sure. If he ever gets his act together, maybe we might team again, or not... Anyway, I know of a few others that will play. I'll most likely get up some more solo videos soon when I get around to playing again.

RESIDENT EVIL 6

Campaign Guide
Agent Hunt Guide
Metal/Title Guide
The Mercenaries Guide
Serpent Emblem Guide

Honestly, I enjoyed DmC Devil May Cry even more than RE6 overall. I absolutely love the new style of this game. I'm working on an enemy section and possibly a Bloody Palace section to add at a later point.

DmC DEVIL MAY CRY

DmC Devil May Cry Guide
DmC Vergil's Downfall Guide

As for what I'm doing now, I'm actually co-writing a Gears of War: Judgment guide with another FAQ author. It's quite fun to work on a full-fledged shooter game once again - been quite a while. After I'm done with that, I'll probably get back to RE6 and update my RE: Revelations guide for the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 release of it.

I've had a really tough time with health issues since last year (last June), but is finally and do say FINALLY getting things under control now. I also have my desktop PC back now - that's the reason why I haven't been updating my blog. But to put it simply, I'm finally back once again.
